WHAT: Feeding Program
WHERE: Brgy. Malvar, Santiago City
WHEN: March 14, 2009
ORGANIZER: Section O1
TIME STARTED: 07:30 am
TIME ENDED: 12:30 pm
ELAPSED TIME: 5 hours

I’m running out of time, there are a lot of things that I am doing and I could not decide where I will go. But after sometimes, I realized that I really need to go with the NSTP activity. Then I prepared my things and I left our house.

I arrived on the school and I saw my co-AMAers they are so busy and the organizers are seems nervous. They I said this thing on my mind “oh my God what is this… ang Hirap naman ng ganito… galit nanaman ata si Sir Ebi”

I could not denied on my mind that I am afraid to Mr. Ebi so that I am careful of I am doing. I signed up the attendance sheet and after that we go to the Left wing to have the Orientation. All of us are quit at time; we listened to the Instructions of Mr. Ebi and we submit out waivers.

While we are walking I remembered again those things happen during the first feeding Program. And I tell on my self “Sana Maulit muli”. Then I saw again the place where the first Feeding Program and I tell on my self “I may be small but I can do great things”

It was already 8:30 am when we arrived at the place, we hurriedly prepared the things. We arranged the chairs the sounds and other electric materials are check and settled. We also helped the Organizers to call children’s. Many of us make a house to house in calling of children. And it’s funny when we are shouting using the Gay lingo “Mga kyota magjoin na kayo ditis at maglafang na!” (Mga bata sumama na kayo ditto at tayo’y kakain na).

It’s really not easy to assist children. You could not shout them just to discipline them; we kept on telling “Mga ading upon na kayo magsisimula na ‘yung program. Kakain na tayo mamaya”

I feel the some hurt when I saw my alaga since the first Feeding Program; her dress is comparable into a rug. There are traces of physical abuse. I saw also on her eyes that she really needs some care…

I don’t mind anything I came to her then I tell her “hello ading, nandito nanaman kami” then she replied with smile on her face “hello din po kuya, nandito ulit kami”

Then the program formally started, Kuya Jhay-ar of the Section O1 hold the program, It’s also funny because even if he is already 21 years old he hold the program very alive.

Hep hep-hurray a eyes breaker and parlor game test the alertness of the children. At that time all of them have the smile in every faces. Every winner has a cash prize. They enjoyed the parlor games.

At exactly 10:30 am we distributed the foods. The food at that time is a black lugaw so called champorado, sandwich and Orange juice as a beverage. I sit beside my alaga. I asked her “Masarap ba ‘yung pagkain ading?”Then she replied again “opo kuya”. While she is eating I’d like to ask why she has a lot of scares on her body but then I let this left on my mind. She is really hungry and she really likes the food and because of that I gave her a take-out food.

As a farewell message to my alaga “Ading Si kuya Eric ay malapit nang mag-graduate sa NSTP kaya baka hindi na kayo mag-kita, magpakabait ka ha… and keep on dreaming, aim high and sore high”

Kabataan ayaw sa Droga

WHAT: Drug Prevention Seminar and Feeding Program
WHERE: Brgy. Malvar, Santiago CityWHEN: March 07, 2009
ORGANIZER: Section C1
TIME STARTED: 8:30 am
TIME ENDED: 4:30 pm
ELAPSED TIME: 8 hours

Santiago City, one of the centers of commercialization here in Isabela, It is a highly established community… a progressive City…BUT it is now the Top Two drug user place entire the Philippines… I ask my self… “What a problem?” I remember the words that came from our national hero “Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan” I asked my self again, “How it would happen if we are not following the right path?”

A thanks to our school AMA Computer College as it acts to lessen the youth who are engage with the influence of Drug addiction.
March 07, 2009, at exactly 7:00 in the morning I am already at the school premises. I wait to my classmates and to my co-AMAers. At that time my hearing capabilities became widen I heard the feeling of unconsciousness from the organizers of the Program…and while I am standing near the stairs I see my co-AMAers so busy…

Then Our Instructor Came he distributed the attendance sheets… I signed the paper to ensure that I am present… while I am signing up the attendance I saw the others running because they are running out of time…I am really ready at that Time, I submitted my waiver and at exactly 7:30 am our Instructor closed the attendance.

They say our Instructor is so boastful… but in my own Interpretation he has the right to close the attendance because it was mandated that 7:30 is the closing of attendance… he is not boastful but I think he is just strict… he strict because Time is gold.

After sometimes… we go to the right wings to hear the Instructions from our Instructor… I listen very well so that I would do the right thing in that activity. I listened to know my responsibilities. All was detailed clearly, no doubts and no questions in my mind.

While we are walking the others are carrying the materials needed for the seminar. I saw youth who are smoking and holding a pack of cigarette. Then I ask my self “is this really the passion of the youth today?” on the other hand I saw those children running on the street, then I took my self “they are the next, what will their pathway if their Ate and Kuya’s are missing their own way, who will be the leader to lead them?”

Then at exactly 8:15 am we arrived at our beneficiary community Brgy Malvar, Santiago City… all are busy at that time no one is standing. We arranged the chairs, they set the sounds, they projector is settled, the others put some decorations. Everyone has the sense of responsibility, there is no need to pin point a name to do a certain task.

After Stage preparation we wait for the Guest speaker, 9:30 in the morning a white vehicle with touches of blue and red arrive and as a respect everyone stand for the respect of our Guest speaker. But then the person that we are waiting for is not yet around…

The Philippine National Police of Santiago City entertained us. They ask us one by one, when it turns to me the Policeman Ask me “are you engage to the Influence of Drugs” then I replied “Absolutely No Sir, Even Drinking Hard Drinks and Smoking Cigarette”. Then they fell so bored so they requested to one song from the group, so that Cathleen Glo R. Madyag rendered Song.
Around 10:00 the Guest Speaker arrived… The Program is handled by Kuyah Medict from Section C1. The Speaker is Police Chief Inspector Pilarito Mallillin. He started the discussion by giving his apology because he did not come early. We understand that because he came all the way from Cauyan City for an Important Matter. Then he discussed about the theme which is “UNITY: the key to prevent Drug addiction in our community” According to him if there is no Unity there is no strength. And we need strength to fight against the Drug Addiction…
He discussed to us what are the Republic Act has the field for this.

While the Seminar is on going a Seminar attendance is moving, I signed to it as a part that we are really against to the Influence of the Prohibitted drugs

He discussed who are persons disobeyed law, the offences, the fines, and length of time in the jail. He discussed the kinds of Drugs and their effects… and he discussed also how to trace persons who are influenced by the Prohibited Drug.

One of the best part of his discussion is the Story telling part which really happened here in Santiago City. I learned the Difference between CHALK POINT and CHECK POINT.

He finished his discussion at exactly 3:30… Immediately we go to the Second Part of the Activity which is Feeding Program.

It is so happy to see the street children having smile in their faces. I am also glad that the Children that I hold last time came to me again and saying “Hello Kuya, nandito nanaman kami” then I said to my self “wow naalala pa niya talaga ako, napakasarap ng feeling” I assisted her for feeding… I gave her a heavy miryenda that we prepared which is LUGAW , Sandwich and a Juice.

We have finished the Activity successfully, and we gained new knowledge and to be treasured experience.

AMAer contibutes to heal the world

Wasted
-Eric A. QuiƱones

When the flowers are opening
The green leaves are waiving
And when the sun is rising
The birds are flying

But now you can’t see
Those birds staying on the tree
Those flowers that blooms everywhere
Now seldom you see them anywhere

One day when I was singing
There is a voice who is calling
And when I heard it, I was wondering
Where is that voice coming?

And I found out, Mother Earth is calling
Destruction she’s now facing
She needs some curing
Because she’s now suffering

Now I realized the time I wasted
Environmental problems I should have prevented
Those times I was sitting and daydreaming
I should have used them for tree planting

That poem that I wrote during my high school days is relevant on the things happened on our life. As we can see the atmosphere is now changing and Global warming is alarming. And I am proud that another pleasurable time is down to Earth through the NSTP2 and the DENR.

“Mission Accomplished… “What a nice words that I heard from my National Service Training Program Instructor followed by heart whelming words “Good Job …” “Very Good”
“Amazing AMAer” “fabulous performance” those words from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) officers and Representatives make me happy. At that time and on that moment I really don’t know what I would say… and what would I do…? But aside from those successes Indicator, I made another milestone in my life which is helping mother Earth.

Sagip Likas-Yaman “a tree planting program” conducted at Cordon, Isabela with the supervision and full support of the DENR l
ast February 28, 2009. We arrived at meeting place exactly 08:00 am, we assembled our Tree guards. A thing that we don’t usually made. At the very first it’s hard there is a time that I want to quit doing the tree guard but I can’t because it’s a mandatory to have tree guard. I don’t mined how hard it is, what I did is to hold the hammer continue what I have started. While everyone is busy in making their Tree guard I noticed that “if you really have the

Determination you can go with your goal”. I did my best to come up and Yes, I made it!
At exactly 09:30 am The DENR officer discussed to use what are things to remember in planting the seedlings. They discussed to us what the proper ways in handling the
seedling is and how deep is the hole we need to dig.
After instructions from the DENR representatives, we set our selves; we prepare our materials such as digging tools, watering too
ls and our tree guard. Even though that the weather is sot hot the spirit of the AMAers remain. We walk and carry our things, and at that time the thing that only I can say is “oh my God ang hirap ang bigat-bigat” but I stride to fulfill and to finish what I have started and no doubt I made it!
Around 10:30-11:00 am tree planting started. With smile in my face I dig a hole together with co-AMAers. And while we are digging holes the DENR Representatives are rounding to see our work, to supervise us and to check if we are following their Instructions. That was the happiest moment of the Tree planting because most of us are not exposed on the work. We just laugh and laugh because of our ignorance. After those things I am so happy because I made the task correctly. Then the last part is to water the plants and another nice experience was done.
We finished the activity around 12:00-12:30 and during the Interview that we conducted from the DENR I have quoted one thing from them “The planting of Trees is not the end of Tree planting activity but it is just the beginnin
g of it…” and according to them they will proposed a Memorandum of Agreement between AMACC Santiago and DENR for continuation of Tree Planting.
I’m so happy not only because of
grades, but I am a part of it. I am not just happy because I’m a part of it but I am one of the Organizers of it. I am happy because I am one of the Organizers of it, but it is done successfully. I am not only happy because it is done successfully but the thing that made me happy is We help to heal the world and to make it a better place.

NSTP2 students against Malnutrition...

BSIT, BSCS, BSCOE, Computer Programming, PC Operation and Practical Nursing Merge together, to conduct a Feeding Program and Health Care Seminar for 6-10 years old children at Brgy. Malvar, Santiago City. The purpose of the said activity is prevent Malnutrition and to teach the proper hygiene to every child Brgy. Malvar.

February 21, 2009, 07:00 in the morning the NSTP2 students are preparing themselves to the Feeding and Health Care Seminar while Mr. Romy G. Ebi is checking our Attendance and securing Waivers.

Exactly 07:30 am Mr. Ebi Closed the attendance. He instructs us what to do, what are the things to be accomplished and what are responsibilities.

After a while we walk going to Brgy. Malvar… while walking there are things that comes in my mind “why we chose Brgy. Malvar as our beneficiary since it is a part of a city?” I saw the place, there are a lot of Commercial establishments, the road the cemented, there is a lot of vehicle, and it is a very busy and progressive community.

For the second time I ask again my self “is this the right place to share our Time, Talent, and Treasure?”

Then I saw a group of children walking going to the community center of Brgy. Malvar. They look like a hungry, most of them are slim. I realize that is the answer why we chose this community.

Then Madam Elizabeth one of the Teacher of the Practical Nursing took Lolito M. Raza Jr. and I to be the Masters of Ceremony. I feel so nervous, the earth seems shaking… but I and Lolito accept the request.

The program was started by an Invocation lead by Mrs. Vanessa San Pedro and followed immediately by Singing of the National Anthem conducted by Ms. Charmaine Alicaycay. After the singing the National Anthem Madam Elizabeth delivered her Welcome address.

And when the program finally started the Health care seminar was started. The speakers are the PN students. They interact with the children in the community and the children’s are very active in participating activities. I’m proud that I was there handling the microphone, entertaining, assisting and working hard just to accomplish the activity.

Then the children’s feel hungry, and then the committee on food prepares and distributes the food. The ratio of distribution of feeding is: every NSTP2 student of AMACC is to one child. At the very first I said to my self that “It is an easy task” but during the feeding I really don’t know what to do. I’m confident to feed the child but I afraid… then after a seconds the child took to me “Kuya kain tayo!” then I go with her and I feed her. While the feeding program is on going I feel the essence why we did this, I saw a lot of smiles, a lot of eyes that showing their thankful.

After the feeding Program, the Health care Program was continued, the PN students teaches the Children’s the correct Oral hygiene. We gave tooth brush to every children of the community. The same ratio was done; I help the child ho to clean his teeth. He follows what is my instruction, he asked if has a question and we share our tie happily.

After oral hygiene another part of the Health care seminar was done, we children’s quietly listen to their Ateh and Kuyas.

3:00 pm we feel that the children’s get bored so as the MC’s we did our responsibility to make the program alive. I’m so shock because they are so active and I can’t go with the level of their energy. And yes we made it

At exactly 4:30 pm the activity was done, like what they say, if there is beginning there is ending; so that if there is preparation there is also a restoration… we cleaned the area that we used… we put things in order.

While we are having our Miryenda I am really tired but when I remember the little time that we share to the children is a more momentous and pleasurable than to stay on Internet shop, playing Online games.
